SEND
The Aim High Mission Statement:
- At the Purbeck School we passionately believe that all our students should be given the opportunity to aim high, aspire, and be successful.
Welcome to Aim High:
Aim High is the area of the school that is committed to ensuring that all students with SEND have the means and resources to reach their learning potential. It is staffed by a highly committed and well trained team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants/Learning Mentors. The team runs specific learning interventions to support those with SEND in areas of the school that have been specifically designed for them. There are two fully resourced Aim High classrooms that support literacy and numeracy. We are also very fortunate to have a fully trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) who specialises in working with emotionally vulnerable students and a designated and fully resourced space for them to work in.
Students with SEND – the Aim High pledge:
- Quality first teaching – all teaching at the Purbeck school will take into account the specific learning needs of students
- Students with SEND are guaranteed extra or small group literacy and/ or maths support where it is identified there is a need
- Students with SEND are guaranteed a place on a specific learning intervention programme where it is identified there is a need
- Students with an EHCP are provided with a IEP
