Medical Mavericks came in to school this week and every Year 10 student was given the opportunity to learn about careers in the NHS ( which is over 300 different careers!). Students also got to use medical equipment such as a vein scanner, blood pressure monitors, inner ear hearing tong and an ECG machine. They tried their hand at key hole surgery and took blood from a prosthetic arm. The most popular instrument was definitely the ultrasound machine where students could analyse if their growth plate wrist bone had fused or if they were still growing in height, reactions were mixed on the news they received!
