The Big Win Competition: Swift House's Generosity Shines Bright

Back in the Autumn term, excitement buzzed as we launched The Big Win Competition, an initiative designed to foster teamwork and community spirit while raising funds for a worthy cause. Each of our Houses - Swift, Skylark, Kestrel, and Kingfisher took on the challenge, with colour-coded buckets placed in reception, students asked staff, family and friends to donate any spare coins they could.
The atmosphere was charged with friendly competition as the Houses rallied their supporters. Everyone was encouraged to contribute whatever they could spare, reflecting the spirit of generosity and solidarity within our school community. The excitement built as the 2 weeks went by, and by the end of the competition, it was clear that one House had truly risen to the occasion.
In total an impressive £300 was raised through the collective houses but Swift House emerged victorious. As the winning House, their next task was to choose a charity to support, and the decision was unanimous—Julia’s House, a charity known for providing invaluable care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families
Today marked a significant moment for Swift House as five student representatives along with Headteacher, Mr Darley and CEO of the Wessex Multi Academy Trust, Mr Foley had the honor of presenting a cheque for £300 to Amanda Gillett, Community Fundraiser for Julia’s House. The event reflected not only the achievements of Swift House but also a commitment to making a positive impact in the community. During the presentation, Amanda expressed her heartfelt gratitude, emphasising how such donations help Julia's House to continue offering essential services and support to families during challenging times.
The Big Win Competition was not just about winning; it was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, work as a team, and support a cause that benefits others. Swift House has exemplified our values of kindness, aspiration, perseverance and their efforts have reminded us all that even the smallest contributions can lead to meaningful change.
As we reflect on this successful initiative, we look forward to finding more ways to engage our community in charitable efforts. Together, we can make a difference, one coin at a time.
Congratulations to Swift House on their victory, and thank you to everyone who contributed to The Big Win Competition! Let’s continue to show our support for Julia’s House and all of the incredible work they do.
