Year 7/8 Girls Victory to the Semi Finals

The girls started the match with intensity, pressing high up the pitch and immediately taking control of possession. Their passing was crisp and purposeful, with the midfield dictating the tempo and spreading the play out wide to stretch the Ferndown Middle School defence.
The breakthrough came within the first five minutes, a testament to the team’s attacking pressure. This early success was swiftly followed by a second goal, demonstrating their finishing and attacking skills. The team showcased excellent link-up play, particularly in midfield, where Ava played a perfectly weighted through ball into the path of Lumen. With composure and precision, Lumen latched onto the pass and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper in style.
Despite a few strong attacking plays from Ferndown, the defensive line remained determined, demonstrating excellent positioning, tackling, and communication to stop any threats. The backline maintained their shape well, stepping up when needed and covering effectively to deny any clear-cut chances. As the game progressed, the team’s confidence grew, and their attacking dominance continued. They added four more goals throughout the match, showing great movement off the ball and decision-making in the final third.
In the second half, Ferndown pressed harder, forcing the team to absorb more pressure. However, Emilia produced a fantastic display in goal, making crucial saves to keep the opposition at bay. Her quick reflexes, confident handling, and excellent shot-stopping ensured the clean sheet was preserved.
A brilliant display of skill, teamwork, and determination see’s the girls into the semi finals of the Pedssa Cup.
