Year 9 Pedssa Netball Tournament

This was the first game of the season and what a game to start with! Canford were the girl’s first game in the tournament. Their goal shooter was the tallest year 9 girl at the tournament and she did not miss. Needless to say the girls lost this game but this did not damped their spirits.

The second game was against St Edwards and the girls started to play the sort of netball I know they are capable of; Esther made some lovely interceptions in defence and both Izzy and Jasmine worked together beautifully to increase our lead. The girls comfortably won this game and this set them in good stead for the next game. This was against Ferndown and again once the girls started to get into their stride they worked the ball nicely from defence to attack where both our shooters kept popping the ball in the net. Another comfortable win saw us qualify for the semi-finals.

Here we came up against Parkstone Grammar who, like Canford, were well drilled and well-disciplined and rarely made a mistake for us to capitalise upon. Unfortunately the girls lost this game which put them into the 3rd/4th playoff, which actually was a great achievement. Again unfortunately in this match QE took the lead, and try as the girls did they just couldn’t seem to catch up. They never for one minute gave up, played with great sportsmanship behaviour and were worthy of their 4th place, just missing out on qualifying onto the next round of the county tournament.  Well Done Girls!!
