Year 9 Football win 9-0 to progress into the County Cup Third Round
With the rain hammering down, Purbeck year 9s welcomed IPACA school from Portland after a bye in the first round.
The game started with some outstanding football with Purbeck putting 20 passes together from the kick off to work the ball to Joey Towers on the edge of the area to slot home into the bottom left hand corner. Five minutes later, Bailey Perren played in an inch perfect pass across the area to Josh Malpas who tapped in to make it 2-0. Just before half time Purbeck scored two goals in quick succession. Josh Malpas latched onto a through ball to bury his second of the afternoon after taking the ball around the goalkeeper. Jack Hughes lobbed the keeper literally on the half time whistle to make it 4-0 at half time.
After half time, Purbeck continued where they left off. Ciaran Waterman got off the mark by cutting in off his wing and placing the ball into the bottom left hand corner. After a ‘hat trick’ opportunity open goal miss from Josh Malpas, Joey Towers scored two more in quick succession from close range. The remainder of the half consisted of a bombardment of the IPACA goal with some excellent saves from their keeper. Jack Hughes got his second of the game by tapping in from a well worked Aston Harley cross, before burying a free kick in the top corner to score his third of the afternoon.
Overall an exceptional afternoon from the year 9 football team who progress into the next round where they play either Gillingham of Bishop of Winchester at home.
