Year 7/8 Badminton Tournament vs Blandford
On 20th November, the Purbeck year 7 & 8 badminton team travelled to the Blandford School to come back victorious with a 12-4 victory.
With all games to 21 points, students played one singles games and two doubles games, with players of equal ranking matching up against each other. With one year 8 short, Miles Nicholson stepped up to the year 8 team, and ended up being both unbeaten in singles and doubles despite being a year younger.
Fabio Streams was the only other year 7 student unbeaten, winning his singles match 21-15 and two tight doubles matches 23-21 and 21-19. The year 8’s thoroughly dominated their tournament, winning all but 1 match coming out winning 7-1 in matches. Archie Burt was unbeaten winning his singles match 21-17 and subsequent doubles games 21-9 and 21-17. David Kruzliak was also unbeaten winning his singles game 21-14, and both doubles games convincingly 21-9. Despite Blandford having an extremely good year 8 player,
Nick Feeney ran him close in singles with a 21-16 loss but then went on to win both doubles games. Alfie Hunt and Josh Ashdown both won two of their three games, falling just short in their final doubles game 24-22. The year 7 team ended up victorious 5-3 in matches, bringing the total victory to 12-4.
