Year 13 Awards Evening

On Thursday 3rd of May, the Year 13 Awards Evening was held in the Purbeck Hall to celebrate the academic success of students and also the many ways in which they have contributed to the school and the community. The evening began with the Prefect and House Captain Awards receiving recognition for the many activities they have run for the whole school including raising money for charity, supporting students through the welfare system and assisting at whole school events. This was followed by an entertaining and illuminating speech by the outgoing Head Boy and Girl giving anecdotes of their year in office. Subject teachers presented the subject awards and gave a short appreciation of why the recipient was being awarded and how richly they deserved to be recognised.

For our guest speaker we were delighted to welcome back Harry Fagan, who left us in 2013 to study medicine at Oxford university. He gave a very thoughtful and thought provoking speech about the transition from leaving school to adulthood and the many choices and decisions our students will be faced with.

The evening concluded with the Enrichment and Year Office Awards including the school’s visit to Rwanda, participation in the Maths Olympiad and the Allen & Overy mentoring scheme. It was an extremely successful evening and we are once again grateful to our sponsors, Battens Solicitors and Chococo for their generous donations of the prizes.
