Would you like to be a School Governor?
Do you want to be part of a team supporting the Headteacher and his staff to deliver the best for the children at The Purbeck School?
Do you have relevant life experience and personal qualities such as leadership, team working or management skills?
Do you want to ‘give back’ to the community by volunteering?
Do you have an ability to listen to others, ask questions, speak up, challenge and share their opinions in a supportive way?
Well, please, think about joining our Governing Body
You do not need to be an expert in education. We are looking for individuals to join us with relevant life experience and a variety of skills
You will never be working on your own – and never singled out or pressured to speak.
Training will be provided for new governors and there will always be the strong support of experienced governors and the Clerk, as well as opportunities to develop knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis
What time commitment is there?
Governors make a meaningful contribution to the school by:
- attending minimum of 6 full governing body meetings, reading papers and preparing questions for senior leaders in advance
- getting to know the school, including visiting the school occasionally during school hours
Volunteering as a Governor is a great way to develop all the skills identified above in a safe and supportive environment which are then transferrable into the workplace and other aspects of life.
If you are interested in becoming a Governor at The Purbeck School, please respond to the letter and nomination form that the Clerk to the Governing Body will be sending to you very soon.
If you would like to stand for election, please complete the nomination form and return it to the school no later than Monday, 5th December 2022.
