The Purbeck School Summer 2021 Expedition to Uganda
Dear Parent/Guardian,
During January 2020, the school will be launching its Summer 2021 Expedition to Uganda. This will be a four week trip to Uganda, East Africa, that I will be organising as lead teacher with the provider ‘Camps International’. It will take place during the months of July and August during the summer of 2021. The trip will include a 5 day trek to Mt Elgon (4321m) as well as taking part in a wide range of community projects in both schools and villages along with wild life conservation work in Uganda. In addition there will be ample opportunity to see East Africa’s wildlife with Safaris being made to the ‘Murchison Falls’ national park among others.
The trip is an amazing opportunity for students, and for many it is life changing as they not only experience so much during the four weeks away but in the lead up to the expedition itself with their various fund raising activities.
The trip is aimed primarily at years 10, 11 and 12 and these year groups will be having assemblies about the trip during January 2020. Yr 9 students are also invited but will not be given an assembly. In addition there will be a parents information evening held in the school on Tuesday 4th Feb about the trip attended by myself and where a talk will be given by a ‘Camps International’ member of staff about the expedition and the itinerary.
In previous years I have organised and gone on similar expeditions to Tanzania, Kenya and Peru, all with ‘Camps International’ who have proved to be an outstanding provider.
