The Junior Maths Challenge
In April over one hundred of our Year 7 and 8 students took part in the challenge. A national competition which attracts interest from over 4000 schools. The paper is made up of lively and intriguing questions designed to stimulate interest in mathematical and logical thinking. Below is one such question from this year’s paper.
This year over of our students received awards. 17 Bronze, 17 Silver and 3 Gold awards.
There are too many students to name separately but well done to all who took part. However, a special mention must go to our top students in Year 7 who were Finn Wilde (best in year), Jacob Snell, Jack Chapman, Harry Hann and Thomas Swain who each receive a Silver Award. While in Year 8 Jazmin Astells (best in school), Charlie Orchard and Madison Suttle who each receive a Gold Award. Not only does Jazmin receive a Gold award but she has also qualified for the next round of the competition, The Olympiad. We wish her the very best of luck!
