Sustrans Dorset School Winter Competition 2020
There are lots of different bikes that are designed to be ridden on different types of terrain. For example you can get road bikes, sand bikes, water bikes and mountain bikes. These bikes are made from parts and materials that will help them work, move and grip on the ground they are ridden on.
Mountain bikes are ridden on rocky and muddy terrain and need materials that are light, wheels that are grippy and pedals that don’t slip. Whereas water bikes have propellers and a hydrofoil to help them glide along the water. Take a look at the pictures and see what adaptions they have to make them easy to ride.

For our winter competition this year we want you to design a bike that can be ridden on snow. Take a look at the next page for the entry form and more details. Entries must be submitted by someone over 18 years old. Please ask your parent or guardian to do this.
The closing date for the competition is Monday 18th January 2021 at 9am.
