- Non-uniform day on 24th March 2023 to fundraise for NSPCC
- KS4 students are now able to purchase food from the main canteen which provides them wider a wider variety of options
- Designs for our school ethos wall have been generated by the Art Department.
School Ethos Wall:
The student council were presented with x2 designs for our school ethos wall. The majority of students voted for option 1 as it was felt it truly represented what our school ethos is. We will share photos with you once the wall has been created. We would like to thank the Art Department for their help with this.
Student Voice Feedback: Personal Development
In September, we launched our new Personal Development (PSHE) Curriculum; students have x1 Personal Development lesson a fortnight which is delivered by their tutors. The Personal Development programme prepares students for life outside of school, equipping them with the skills to make positive and carefully considered life choices both now and in the future.
During our meeting, students were asked to reflect on our Personal Development provision, identify strengths of the programme and areas they would like develop.
- The majority of students voted as being ‘fairly satisfied’ with the Personal Development curriculum
- The variety of topics covered and lesson content was identified as a real strength.
- Students find the lessons useful and beneficial
- Students enjoy having the lessons delivered by their tutors.
Moving forward, students would like to see:
- Move variation in lesson resources and the structure / format of lessons.
- They would also like to cover topics such as ‘Who is Andrew Tate’ and a great number of lessons on life skills, money management and tax
- Students would like a great number of lessons on Toxic masculinity, misogyny and harassment
Student Voice Feedback: Assemblies & Tutor Time
The student council were also asked to reflect on our assembly programme and tutor time programme ahead of our planning for next year.
- All students are either ‘very satisfied’ or ‘fairly satisfied’ with the variety that our assembly programme offers.
- Students particularly enjoy the praise, careers and weekly theme sessions of our tutor time programme
- Students really enjoy having external speakers in to deliver assemblies
Moving forward, students would like:
- Our ‘building positive relationships’ session of the tutor time programme to be reviewed.
- They would also like to have a greater number of external speakers visit the school
Mrs Watson will take these ideas back to the House Leaders & Senior Leadership Team and draw up an action plan which will be shared with the student council at our next meeting.
Agenda for the next student council meeting:
At our next meeting, students would like to discuss the following:
- Canteen Provision
- Toilets
- Outside Space
AOB
Mrs Watson would like to thank the school council for their attendance at the meeting and is looking forward to continuing to work with the council this academic year.
