To: All Year 13 Students
This is it! As the end of the academic year approaches, here are some vital notes for your information.
Normal school will continue until Friday 10th May after which the revision period commences. From Monday 13th May you will be expected to attend all lessons in a subject until the final exam in that subject. From the 13th May attendance at QST and tutor time is not compulsory unless you are deemed to be underachieving.
Students are expected to make themselves aware of the regulations for candidates published by the Examination Boards, which are displayed in school. Students must arrive in good time for the start of examinations for their own benefit and for that of other candidates. If the exam is first thing in the morning, please go straight to the examination room – you do not need to go to tutor as you will be registered in the exam.
In the event of illness, the school should be informed immediately and a medical certificate obtained and forwarded to the school so that a claim for special consideration can be made to the Examination Board and/or Higher Education Institutions as appropriate. If other circumstances arise which it is felt could adversely affect a candidate’s performance, the Head of Sixth Form should be informed as soon as possible.
MOBILE PHONES, SMART WATCHES, IPODS, MP3/4 PLAYERS AND IPODS OR ANY POTENTIAL TECHNOLOGICAL/ WEB ENABLED SOURCES OF INFORMATION
These are not allowed in the examination room. Wrist watches have to be placed on the desk.
After your last exam you must complete a Leavers Form (obtainable from the Sixth Form office) – this will involve returning any textbooks/ library books and asking subject staff to sign your form. Please complete the bottom of the form with your intentions for next year and return the form to the 6th Form Office.
EXAMINATION RESULTS: Due in school Thursday 15th August 2019.
Results may be collected by you (but not by anyone else without prior notification and written authorisation) between 9.00am – 10.30am from the school. If you know you are not going to be able to collect your results on 15th and do not want an authorised person to collect them on your behalf, you can leave a stamped addressed envelope with the Sixth Form office before the end of term and your results will be posted to you.
COLLECTION OF EXAMINATION CERTIFICATES:
Certificates can be collected from school from the beginning of December 2019 provided we have a signed Leavers Form. You must keep these safe (they will be needed for every job application now or in the future).
Keep in touch – we are always pleased to hear what you are doing. Should you find yourself somewhere interesting, or doing something out of the ordinary, it would be great if you could send a postcard reminding us of the year you left, your email address plus a few points about what you have been up to and join our Purbeck School alumni group on social media.
I hope you have enjoyed the last two years as much as we have and wish you every success in the future.
