Sea Cadet success!
This weekend Evan Webber competed in the Dorset and Somerset Drill and Ceremonial competition at RNAS Yeovilton representing Weymouth Sea Cadet Unit as an individual Piper. He came runner up with a very good score and was put through to the next rounds competing at HMS Raleigh next month for the South West Area.
The photo shows him receiving his certificate. This also signs off a number of his modules for his basic piping qualification.
Evan has also been given a place to fly to Caledonia in Scotland during May Half term to undertake a qualification in Meteorology and this weekend is undertaking his intermediate Seamanship course in Weymouth.
In the last year he has also achieved a specialisation in First Aid, Level 2 RYA Windsurfing, Competent Crew in Rowing and Offshore Hand 1 (Power) which he achieved on a week long voyage offshore on the English Channel aboard training vessel TS John Jerwood in October half term.
He is now looking to complete specialisations in Marine Engineering this year which is his chosen path to follow in the Royal Navy when he leaves school and is half way to achieving his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award too!
Well done Evan, an impressive set of achievements!
