Sam Handy, former student and Vice Chair of design at Adidas visits the Purbeck School
On Wednesday 12th June, students in Y10 and Y12 were visited by former Purbeck School student Sam Handy, Vice Chair of Design at Adidas in Germany.
Students heard about his career progression from Purbeck School student to being headhunted by Adidas to lead a design team. His career has seen him collaborating with Premier League footballers, Rappers, World Cup Teams and now the Olympic committees designing trainers and sportswear for some of the most famous athletes in the world.
Sam then was kind enough to stay on and talk to Product Design students in years 10 and 12 about the skills, commitment and qualities they need to work in the design industry in the future and the types of design problems he and his team face day to day.
Students were then set a short design challenge to see if they could create their own iconic shoe design.
Sam has also set us a design challenge which will be open to all Purbeck School students very soon, which he and his team at Adidas will be interested in judging for us.
