The Purbeck year 10’s had a highly convincing win against Corfe Hills last week. Purbeck were highly dominant throughout the game, with stand out performer Leon Temel grabbing himself a hattrick in the first half. The stand out try was a cross field kick from Noah Evans to the corner which Leon juggled to then catch and score in the corner. Josh Duncan was another stand out player, working incredibly hard at the breakdown and ball carrying strongly bringing others into play. It was encouraging to see other players within the team step up showing excellent skill sets. Rhys Lovell really took the game to Corfe Hills, with Deniz Demir tackling well despite it being his first every game of competitive rugby. Overall a solid afternoon with both teams enjoying the mud and rain.
Year 9: Purbeck 62 Blandford 5
The Purbeck year 9 team continued their winning ways with another highly dominant display against Blandford School. TJ Shearer led from the front, making numerous line breaks with sheer power and determination. Will Wright controlled the backs and forwards incredibly well, making winding runs and bringing others into play. Ren Elliot was constantly quick off the line, tackling low and getting over the ball with excellent support lines. Ollie Lee scored a couple of well worked tries and Cristian Keefer scored the pick of the bunch, side stepping and accelerating past the majority of the opposition to score the final try of the game. Archie Burt also slotted some excellent conversions, scoring his first points for the year above. Overall another fantastic performance.
Year 7: Purbeck 30 Blandford 35
The year 7 team narrowly lost to a solid Blandford side, but showed huge improvement and progress from their previous game against Budmouth a few weeks ago. The boys were much quicker off the line, tackling lower with their rucking further improved showing how much they have learned from training every Thursday. Alfie Hunt scored his first ever rugby tries for the school with Ollie Ellis scoring the others as per the previous game. Toby Debenham made numerous try saving tackles, but Purbeck just fell short in the end. The boys spirits were high though and they continue to come training, showing excellent commitment and progress. Keep up the good work boys, the wins will start coming soon!
