Purbeck School Complete over 3000 laps of the X-Country for CALM

From 5th – 9th July, all students at the Purbeck School in one PE lesson completed as many laps of the X-Country as they could to raise money for the charity CALM whilst also wearing orange. Overall, the total amount of laps run was 3070km, the equivalent of running from Wareham to Istanbul in Turkey. Below are the inter-house results for overall, each year group and the top performing boys and girls. Congratulations also to the top 3 performing tutor groups: 10ySWE (100km), 8yBMN (84km) and 8yKON (81km). An additional special mention to the sixth form sports prefects who collectively all week not only ran 461 laps, but supported and encouraged all students throughout the week. They also were hugely encouraging in helping me reach my target of 100 laps!

On top of all of this, money is still coming in for sponsorship for CALM, so please encourage students to hand it in next week to student services or donate directly online following the link below. It also includes my story which I have tried to us to motivate and inspire students to open up.

Most importantly, the key focus point of this all is too RAISE AWARENESS of mental health, identifying signs and symptoms, accessing support that’s out there and above all TALKING TO EACH OTHER. I cannot begin to express how many students have started to open up about this in relation to themselves or their peers. This is hugely encouraging to tackle this together for what has been such a tough 16 months for all of us in all aspects of life.
