Ofsted visit The Purbeck School

Dear Parents/Carers

Last week we had a visit from Ofsted. Two inspectors spent the day with us on Tuesday 6th March.

We are one of the first secondary schools in Dorset to be inspected using Ofsted’s new section 5 regulations. This inspection format is designed to be completed in one day and in this short inspection the school’s grading of ‘Good’ can not change (it would only have turned into a two day inspection if they had found significant issues – if this is the case a school can be downgraded).

Thank you to all of the parents and students who replied to the questionnaire that Ofsted sent out. Headteacher, Adam Darley commented that ‘we were exceptionally pleased with the way that the visit went and the way that the students acquitted themselves throughout – it made me very proud to be their headteacher’

The Ofsted team that visited will now write up their findings and we will receive an official letter towards the end of this term. Once we have that we will of course inform all of our parents.
