Year 8/9 Netball

Purbeck 13 Lychett 2

Considering this was the girls’ first game of the season, and it being a mixed team of year 8 and year 9 who haven’t played together as a team, the effort and team work was phenomenal.  The girls were a shooter down and Mia Petto stepped up to play goal shooter when no-one else put themselves forward. Her instructions were clear: feed the ball to Jasmine and get her as close to the post as you can. She did an amazing job at this and because of her quick thinking and teamwork Jasmine went on to score all the goals. Jasmines play around the circle and her shooting was excellent. Our defence were strong and, fortunately for us, intercepted and turned over many balls allowing us more opportunities to score. A really good first game.

Year 10 Netball

Purbeck 7 – Lytchett 13

The girls started off strong; centre passes were working and for the first third it was pretty close. We missed a couple of goals which allowed Lytchett to slip into the lead. However the shooters played beautifully together and did some lovely feeds to each other. The attack worked well at feeding the ball around until a better shooting opportunity arose. Our defence were strong and gave Lytchett’s attack a run for their money, however their shots were more consistent and this lead to them starting to run away with a lead. Undeterred the girls never gave up and in the last third they clawed back the deficit, unfortunately it was not enough to win the game. The girls are starting to play a quick game of netball and the ball is flowing down the court beautifully we just need to work a little more on consistency and spacing and then there will be no stopping them.
