Message from the Headteacher
I thought I would write at the end of our second lockdown week to keep you up to date with what is happening at the school.
‘Live’ lockdown lessons are now the norm and I hope that your son/daughter has been able to log on and access everything that they have required. If there are problems, then please let the school know. I have attached the protocol for live lessons as a reminder of the expectations for students. It is crucial that students continue to log on for 8.45am every morning so that they are set for the day, registered, and ready to learn.
We have reinstated the very popular ‘Lockdown Learner of the Week’. This week the voucher has been awarded to Chloe Sheppard for her excellent work in Mr Deremaux’s History class. Well done Chloe!
Next week the options process begins for Year 9 students. All subject areas have posted a video on the school website to help you with your decisions and these videos will go live on Monday evening. To support this, there is also a parents’ evening this Thursday during which you can discuss possible options with subject teachers – please do sign up if you have not already done so. We will keep in communication with you about this process throughout the next couple of weeks.
We are still no clearer on the exams situation than we were a week ago. Although exams have been ‘formally’ cancelled, there is much discussion about what might replace them. Therefore, the only thing that we can really do is wait and see. We will continue to prepare Year 11 and 13 for whatever they may face, and the key message for both year groups has to be that they need to carry on as they have been doing.
Thank you for your continuing support and I will write again next week.
