Message from the Headteacher
A quick update from the school.
Covid is obviously still with us and the wearing of masks and other restrictions are not due to be reviewed until the end of the month. Therefore, we continue to welcome your support with encouraging students to bring and wear their masks on the school site. Please do continue with regular lateral flow testing at home.
On Monday 24th January we will be welcoming Escapeline to school. They are a charitable organisation that work across the South West with students, parents, and schools, running educational sessions around child exploitation and in particular County Lines (drugs being brought into rural communities). They will be providing some training for staff at school as well as offering two parent sessions during the day that you are invited to attend. The sessions will be online and further details will sent out next week. If you would like to take a look at the work that they are currently undertaking then please do visit their website at https://www.escapeline.org.uk/
Year 9 options go live next week. Please do visit the school website to view the videos that have been posted online to help you make decisions about the subjects that your child might want to take into Year 10. Alongside this there is also the Year 9 parents’ evening on Thursday 20th (this is virtual).
This week students have been exploring Human Rights during their tutor time and investigating cases around the world where human rights have been restricted. Sports fixtures have now started again, the Year 7 football team had a very impressive win away in the County Cup (9-3), well done to all involved, especially Jack Biles who scored a hat trick. Alongside the sport we also had some GCSE examinations take place, and we had some students who received examination results from examinations that they took in November – well done to all those students involved. As always it’s a busy start to the year!
