Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope everyone has had a good week.

Next week is the start of the mock examinations for Year 11 and 13. Yesterday we have received further information from Government regarding what will happen if summer exams don’t run, and it is expected that schools will have undertaken a range of mock examinations as part of the evidence gathering to support any final grading. Therefore, it does highlight the importance of these examinations and others that we have calendared for next March. We wish all of our Year 11 and 13 students the very best of luck for next week.

We have had confirmation today that Wareham hospital will be open for Covid vaccinations for 14 year olds tomorrow (Saturday 13th), they have apologised for the short notice. They would like to stagger the vaccinations in the following way:

9am to 11am – Surname starting A-C
11am to 1pm – Surname starting D-H
13:30pm to 3:40pm – Surname starting J-O
15:30pm to 5:15pm – Surname starting P-Z

If you are unsure of anything related to the vaccinations then please contact the hospital.

We will be continuing to wear masks at school, probably for the rest of this term. We would ask that where possible you provide your child with a mask as we have now given out around 2000 masks in the last two weeks. We would also ask that you keep testing your child to ensure that they are Covid free. If you do have a positive case then your child is classed as being ‘ill’ for 10 days, as a result work will not be provided (as they may well be recovering), however, in some cases the illness is very mild, therefore, if you would like work set then please let the school know.

It’s been another busy week at school, including sporting fixtures, remembrance activities, a Geography trip, House leadership group meetings, the student survey, and the GCSE Drama practical exam, all running alongside the other day to day activities. Well done to all the Super 7’s this week, and a reminder that next week is national anti-bullying week, we will be running a number of assemblies and activities around this theme.

Take care,

Adam Darley
