Macmillan Cake Sale – Baking? There’s muffin to it!
This Thursday, 7th October, the Sixth Form Charity Prefects will be holding Purbeck’s very own Macmillan Coffee Morning (but without the coffee!). It’s the world’s biggest coffee morning and, every year, it raises money for the charity so they can continue supporting people affected by cancer. This includes providing nurses and information to people suffering from cancer and their loved ones. Macmillan also takes part in campaigning and working with the government to improve the support available and funding research into cancer.
The Purbeck School is taking part and any amount we raise will make a difference. For example, if we could raise £350, it would let a family affected by cancer take a holiday and spend precious time together.
We will raise money by selling cakes, cookies, flapjacks and more at school on Thursday next week. They will be available at the café at break and lunch, and students from all years are invited to come and join in. Any unsold cakes will be on sale during Open Evening that day too. Cakes will be around 50p each and any extra donation is welcome.
Some cakes will be provided by the school, but if anyone who loves baking makes some of their own and donates them, it will make sure we definitely have enough cakes for everyone who wants them (please do not bring in any cakes containing nuts!). Students who bring in cakes or similar treats will get a free Macmillan wristband.
¬¬ Competition ¬¬
The best decorated home-baked cake will be automatically entered into a competition to win a prize. Students should bring their cakes in on the morning of 7th October to their tutor rooms and our sixth form prefects will collect and judge them. As Abba would say, The Winner Bakes it All.
Good luck to everyone baking, and thank you for taking part!
