The match started well with Purbeck piling on the pressure and a few half chances that weren’t put away. The Molly stepped up and Molly did a good run up from half way to the box. Amy made an interception and ran all the way up to the box. Molly ran up and kicked it in to the bottom right corner and scored the first goal of the match. Amy made a header in to the goal from a corner. Emily passed the ball into Molly who scored. Molly scored again to make the fourth goal. Molly raced through and muscled out the defender to score Purbeck’s 5th goal. Ball was crossed over by Amy and Millie finished it into the roof of the net. Amy ran up from half way to cross it into the bottom left corner. Lucy Roberts was fantastic in the holding midfield role, and Jodie Johnson a rock at the back. After a number of substitutions Shaftesbury tried to get back into the match, they scored after a superb first save by Emily Hall, was followed in to make the score 6-1. Molly finished off her scoring run by adding a fourth with a superb individual run and finish, and Millie Rogers finished nicely from a cross to make the final score 8-2. Year 7/8 Girls Football
Purbeck 6 Shaftesbury 2
With the game more of a trial game split into 15 minute quarters, the main winner here was the sheer amount of girls playing football on a nice sunny Wednesday afternoon. The match player for player was very even aside from the second quarter where Purbeck were extremely clinical. Shaftesbury started brightly scoring to take the lead 1-0 in the first quarter. In the second quarter Purbeck really caused the damage with Mia Petto and Holly Humphreys scoring in quick succession. Then Jamie Bland scored ‘goal of the game’ by cutting in from the left hand side and curling a precise right footed shot into the top corner of the goal. Holly then added her second of the afternoon, much to her father’s disgust as the opposition teacher. Jasmine Nadaf then had a one on one which she slotted home into the bottom left hand corner. The third and fourth corners were much more even with both sides coming close, Shaftesbury pulled one back, only for Jamie Bland to go up the other end and score in the bottom left hand corner. A fantastic afternoon for all girls involved.
