Fantastic results at The Purbeck School – Congratulations to the class of 2017/18
The Purbeck School GCSE class of 2017/18 have matched their A level counterparts by posting exceptional results.
Headteacher Mr Darley commented:
‘These are a superb set of results, we are so proud of the students. The changes to the subject specifications and grading system in order to strengthen GCSEs have led to some of the toughest educational challenges that we have known a year group have to contend with. Students and staff have stood up to this challenge and posted some of the best results that the school has ever seen. Congratulations to all of our students, we look forward to welcoming the majority of you back to 6th form and best wishes to those moving to pastures new.’
The school have improved on last year’s results which placed it firmly in the top 20% of schools nationally. There have been some impressive individual results with a number of students attaining highly with a range of the new highest grades of 8 and 9:
Maddie Wainwright – 4 subjects at grade 9 and 5 at grade 8
Oscar Williams – 4 subjects at grade 9 and 3 at grade 8
Daisy Tozer – 3 subjects at grade 9, 1 at grade A*, and 1 at grade 8
Archie Ramsden – 3 subjects at grade 9 and 3 at grade 8
Other students who also gained a range of grade 9s or 8s included Jasmin Evers, Megan MacDonald, Josh Stukes, and Luke Winch. Well done to you all!
