Equipment and Uniform Reminder

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope that you have all had a peaceful and restful Christmas and can I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year from the staff at The Purbeck School.

I am writing to you at the start of the new term to ask for your support to ensure that your son/daughter is fully prepared for the school term ahead, with a particular focus on school equipment and uniform.

To be successful in a school environment every student is required to have the basic school equipment with them at all times – the very minimum expectation is that your son/daughter arrives at school with:

  • Pen x2 (black/blue)
  • A ruler
  • Pencil
  • A reading book
  • Full PE Kit

It is also desirable for students to have a purple pen (for corrections), calculator, pencil sharpener, colouring pencils, highlighters, and pencil case to carry the equipment in.

If you could ensure that your son/daughter have this basic equipment with them this term it would be much appreciated. Not having the basic equipment can lead to a sanction from the school as it is detrimental to a student’s ability to learn.

I would also like to reiterate our commitment to a smart and consistent expectation for uniform. Can I bring particular attention to the shoes, trousers, and the makeup section of the policy, and remind everyone that students are not allowed to wear hoodies in school or on the school site. Again your support in this area is appreciated.

The link to the uniform/equipment page of the website is attached here: https://www.purbeck.dorset.sch.uk/information/uniform-and-equipment/

If you have any questions about the uniform or equipment expectations then please do contact the school.

Yours sincerely
