Dylan Ross – Handball Call Up for the National Squad.

Dylan first discovered handball at Dorset School Games whilst playing for The Purbeck School’s U15 squad back in April 2017; in this he impressed some county coaches and was given Dorset handball trials along with some of his fellow teammates.

After playing for Dorset handball for a short while Dylan decided to sign for Poole Phoenix, where he was able to develop his understanding and skills in the game. A short while before finishing the season at Dorset he was given trials for the South West Regional Academy.

Dylan played for South West Regional Academy for the year before being invited to have trials for the futures squad for England; this was the stage before the national academy or DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence). Once he was accepted into the futures squad he was invited to go and play in a tournament in Denmark and represent England’s handball team (as seen in the picture right).

Dylan was then invited into the National Academy where he continued to show big levels of progression and improvement in the sport, to the point where he was offered GB trials.  These took place last weekend, 24th of March 2019; he was successful in these trials and is now a part of the GB U18 squad with the possibility of going to represent Great Britain’s under 18 handball team in a tournament in Sweden this summer.

Amazing achievements Dylan – keep up the good work and we wish you all the best in your upcoming games!
