‘Criminal Law System’ – Visiting Magistrate to Year 12

In May, Julian Black, a serving Magistrate came in to talk to our Year 12 students about the criminal justice system in the UK and the role of the Magistrates’ Court. He gave an interesting talk which challenged students’ thinking about what goes on in a Magistrates’ Court and gave students an opportunity to take part in a debate about what course of action could be taken given a fictitious scenario of a criminal activity.

He has offered the opportunity for students to go to Poole Magistrates’ Court to visit the facilities and understand further the judicial system in the UK.
