Coronavirus Government Guidelines Update
I wanted to write to reiterate some of the announcements that were made last night by the Prime Minister and to put them into our school context.
The basic advice now is:
- Everyone must now self isolate for 14 days if they or anyone else in the home environment reports as having symptoms
- Parents will be contacted and students will be sent home if they are exhibiting symptoms
- There is a recommendation that vulnerable groups with pre existing health problems should self isolate (details at Public Health England)
- Schools are staying open and students should attend if they are well
The full advice is here at Public Health England https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/public-health-england
This is obviously having an impact on the school with a number of members of staff and students self isolating. We will endeavour to run lessons as normal (and in the vast majority of cases this is possible) – but there will clearly be a number of occasions where your son/daughter may not be taught by their regular teacher, and this may be the case for a protracted time. If contacting the school please do bear in mind that services are stretched at the moment.
We have now cancelled or postponed all non essential trips/fixtures for the foreseeable future and we are working with travel companies to try and find out further information regarding refunding. Again, as you might expect they are experiencing high levels of communication and have yet to put out official statements. This is an evolving picture and we will inform you when we are informed of anything.
We are fully prepared if the Prime Minister does decide to shut down schools and I will be writing to you later today with information on this.
This is clearly a situation that is changing daily and we will endeavour to keep you informed of all developments that affect the school.
