Confirmed Case case covid-19

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within Year 9 at The Purbeck School. The case has been linked to community acquired transmission.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

All students who have been identified as close contacts have been notified by a separate letter detailing the next steps for them. These students have been advised on the period for which they must remain in isolation.

The school we remain open for all other students during this period. The school has been working closely with our team at Public Health England South West and Dorset Council to ensure high standards of hygiene and social distancing are maintained and ensuring all the necessary measures are in place.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19

Do:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
