BTEC, Cambridge Nationals, and Cambridge Technicals
Dear Parent/Carer,
BTEC, Cambridge Nationals, and Cambridge Technicals.
Following the Secretary of State’s announcement today we have made the decision to cancel all of our BTEC, Cambridge Nationals, and Cambridge Technical exams that were due to be taken this half term.
We have therefore cancelled the examinations this half term for the following courses:
- Year 11 Sport: OCR Nationals Level 2
- Year 11 Health & Social Care BTEC Level 2
- Year 12 Health & Social Care OCR Technicals Level 3
- Year 13 Sport OCR Technicals Level 3
- Year 13 Business OCR Technicals Level 3
We have not taken this decision lightly and we are sorry that we have had to make this decision on behalf of our hard working students. However, we do not think that whilst we are under national lockdown restrictions it would be right to ask students into school to sit these exams, as it could put themselves, the invigilators, and members of staff at an unnecessary risk. We also do not believe that the climate for examinations is right and do not want to put students through extra pressures at this time.
We are not sure what systems will now be put in place for the BTEC, Cambridge Technicals, and Cambridge Nationals, but when we do we will let you all know. It is likely that it will be partly a centre assessment and partly coursework based. Therefore, it is essential that students are now consistently completing work to the highest possible standard.
GCSE and A level Examinations
These have now been cancelled by the Secretary of State. There will be further details on how students will be awarded grades at a later date. It is likely that this will include some kind of in school assessments and a centre assessed predication. Therefore, as above, it is now essential that students are consistently completing work to the highest possible standard.
We will keep you informed of any more developments.
Take care,
Adam Darley
Headteacher
