Amnesty International Schools Conference

This week our sixth formers were invited to the Amnesty International Conference in Bournemouth.

Lotte from year 12 writes about the day – After going to the Amnesty International Human Rights Conference yesterday, I can easily say it was an eye-opening event. We had the privilege of hearing Rebecca Ratcliffe (the sister in law of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe) talk about Nazanin’s ongoing, unjust imprisonment in Iran. Hearing cases such as this was not only horrifying – to say the least – but gave us so much insight in what Amnesty International really does and the cases that they get involved with. We also attended talks on modern slavery and the refugee crisis. I think it’s safe to say that many people can have misconceptions about the refugee crisis and it was thought-provoking to hear more about it. Overall, it was an amazing experience.
